Question: Which schools should I look into if I plan to keep playing trumpet?

Answer: Well, it's kind of hard to answer that question because I don't know a lot of things about you and what you want out of it, and how intense you are about playing. If you are intense about it, and you are already accomplished you should make the "rounds" as we like to call it and go audition on site at a number of schools. Before I auditioned, I did some research and found out who was teaching where, if they were well-known and well thought of. Next, I found out if there was a good academic program so that if I decided to change my major for some reason, I could roll back on a math degree or something. I also looked at location. Will there be a good social life, but will i practice there? Then, I took into account things like cost and availability of financial aid. After that, I chose a bunch of schools to audition at. The ones I chose were Northwestern University, Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, Cleveland School of Music, and then some local backup schools. Northwestern was my first choice, I got in, and I have NO complaints whatsoever.
